The challenge
Onboarding of new clients required Cleeng to develop a new payment connector for the Adyen platform.
In addition to a tight deadline, the project posed three interesting challenges.
End users should be able to use all payment methods made available by Adyen, and publishers should access all the latest security practices and new features related to the payment platform.
From a technical standpoint, the payment connector should maximize the speed of the payment process and be equipped with a dummy data processor that won’t hold any sensitive data or perform needless operations for increased security.
The client requested we assume that we’ll add more payment methods in the future – easy scalability was critical.

What Cleeng achieved
To implement the connector, we decided to combine Cleeng’s AWS infrastructure with a serverless framework.
The framework scales automatically with the load, which is very important for top performance regardless of the intensity of the traffic. The addition of AWS SQS made it possible for us to decouple components in order to make the system more efficient.
Our team built the architecture on Terraform. Cleeng can now create and update all the services quickly using the declarative infrastructure-as-a-code approach that Terraform offers.
It was all a part of our cloud-native approach, which doesn’t rely on local environments. That was done because Cleeng’s subscriber retention platform need to be integrated with many external services. Cleeng doesn’t need to mock them and keep them in sync all the time. While they need to deploy the app with every change, it only takes around 5 minutes. The trade-off is well worth it.
