We often get asked what The Software House does in fintech, and it's not something a single case study can answer on its own. Reading through all of our fintech case studies takes time, so here's the quick overview instead, plus a few predictions on where our fintech offer is headed next.
Interested in our fintech services? Our fintech portfolio is the right place to check a specific project.
This time, take a look at our TSH case studies for fintech presented as an overview so that you can get a quick sense of what we’re doing and where we’re heading in fintech.
Below, you will find short descriptions of 19 of our case studies across 5 categories.
TL;DR
Our fintech work spans payments, banking, onboarding, and AI agentic projects,Fintechs keep their own decision engine,
For every one of these areas, we have real-world case studies,
AI agentic payments and automation are becoming our major focus,
Expect more agentic payments work from The Software House.
Payments infrastructure case studies
This category of TSH fintech case studies is all about gateways, payouts, and making sure money and its data move to the right place, with speed and full visibility.
Cleeng: custom Adyen payment integration
We built a custom Adyen integration so Cleeng could onboard new business partners.
The integration didn't compromise on security or performance.
A European bank: SEPA certification across 36 countries
A European bank came to us needing SEPA certification.
We built the AWS-based payment infrastructure that got it certified across 36 countries, up from three.
xpate: payouts cut from 7 days to minutes
We rebuilt xpate's payment platform so merchant payout time dropped from 7 days down to mere minutes.
It's the clearest example of what this category looks like end-to-end.
"We've scaled up the team and now work with architects, the CEO, and a project manager from The Software House. This particular team is more skilled than the ones I've worked with on previous engagements." — Ruben Vosmeer, CTO at xpate
xpate: a data lake for transaction monitoring
Later, we built xpate a data lake that automated their transaction monitoring and improved reconciliation.
It runs on the same platform we rebuilt for their payouts.
Onboarding and KYC case studies
Onboarding is the front door of any regulated fintech product.
It's one of the hardest things to change once it's live, since a single mistake means locking out real users or breaking compliance.
A Swiss fintech: automated investor onboarding
A Swiss fintech running an agentic DeFi protocol needed investor onboarding that verified identity and wallet ownership without a manual review slowing growth.
We automated the entire flow end to end.
A digital asset platform: KYC provider migration
For a regulated digital asset platform in the US, we migrated every user to a new KYC provider.
Not a single user needed to re-verify, despite inheriting a system with no documentation.
Pension Lab: onboarding cut from three months to three days
Pension Lab needed to onboard new pension providers faster than their manual process allowed.
Through API work and template-based dashboards, we cut their onboarding time down to three days.
"Over the many years of working with The Software House, we were able to find a common language. They know what Pension Lab is trying to achieve and how they can help achieve it." — Scott Phillips, Founder and CEO at Pension Lab
Core banking case studies
Established banks and lenders come to us to scale or replace systems that weren't built for their current growth.
A European neobank: government youth aid program
A European neobank needed backend workflows for a government youth financial aid program.
The deadline was a strict four months, and our dedicated team hit it without disrupting their core product.
A banking technology provider: scaling an e-wallet team
A global banking technology provider needed to scale its e-wallet team on a tight timeline to deliver complex integrations in parallel.
We brought in senior .NET engineers who could take ownership of key components from day one.
A bank: legacy platform modernization for 30,000 customers
One bank needed its legacy platform modernized for 30,000 customers.
We delivered it without downtime or disruption.
A UK lender: loan approvals down to five minutes
A UK lender wanted to flip traditional 60 to 90 day loan approvals into a five-minute automated process.
The resulting platform has issued over £10M in loans to more than 150 business clients.
Emerging fintech case studies
Some fintechs come to us early, needing to build and prove out something new before it can scale at all.
WieBetaaltWat: native apps replacing a hybrid MVP
WieBetaaltWat needed native Android and iOS apps to replace a hybrid MVP that wasn't holding up
The resulting apps helped the bill-splitting platform reach one million downloads.
"The most important thing is quality. The second one is seniority, and the people who are not only following the tasks to do but can work as a team, together. And the third thing is a cultural fit." — Matthijs Piëst, COO at WieBetaaltWat
Lipefi: an investor-ready prototype
Lipefi needed an investor-ready prototype on a tight timeline.
The branding, UX, and development work we delivered helped secure their funding within days of the first user feedback.
Obligate: a blockchain bond issuance platform
Obligate needed a blockchain bond issuance platform that was both fast and secure.
Our engineering work cut issuance costs by 80% and reduced issuance time from weeks to hours.
A data lake implementation study
A separate data lake implementation project improved a client's data analysts' efficiency by 25%.
It's the same data engineering skill set at work outside of payments.
AI and agentic case studies
These are the TSH projects getting most of our fintech energy right now.
Bakkt's Zaira: a conversational AI banking agent
For Bakkt's Zaira, we built a conversational AI banking agent with anti-hallucination guardrails.
Those guardrails are built into how it handles payments.
An MCP-based AI chatbot for crypto payments
For a US fintech client, we built an MCP-based AI chatbot that lets users pay merchants in cryptocurrency through natural language commands.
The crypto converts to fiat on the way out, with no manual step.
Pension Lab: AI document processing, 95% faster
Pension Lab's biggest AI win came from document processing.
An AI-powered OCR system cut processing time per document from 15 minutes to 40 seconds.
Pension Lab: a PII anonymization layer
Because that system handles sensitive personal data, we built a PII anonymization layer.
It strips identifying information before it ever reaches the AI model, so the speed gain didn't come at the cost of data protection.
The next focus: agentic AI payments
AI and agentic automation sits last on this list on purpose.
It's the newest category, but it's growing faster than any other part of our fintech work.
That's not true for us alone.
According to BDO's 2026 Fintech Industry Predictions, fintechs are integrating payment tools into AI chatbots to initiate transactions, provide payment assistance, and detect fraud.
2026 is expected to bring AI agents that plan and execute entire online transactions end-to-end with little human intervention.
The report frames this as a shift in when, where, and how payments happen at all, not just a faster version of what exists.
We're building toward that same shift.
The Zaira, MCP chatbot, and Pension Lab AI projects above are all signals of it.
If agentic payments follow the trajectory the industry predicts, expect our next round of fintech case studies to lean even further into this space.
That’s it for our TSH case studies for fintech for now. Expect the article to be expanded as we publish more of our work!
